Limerick Fianna Fáil TDs Niall Collins and Willie O’Dea have met the receivers appointed to Mr Binman at Leinster House in Dublin today, and have secured assurances about the future of jobs at the company.

Deputies O’Dea and Collins sought the meeting with KPMG’s Padraic Monaghan and Kieran Wallace after they were appointed as receivers to Mr Binman by the High Court last week.

Speaking after the meeting Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Enterprise Willie O’Dea said: “The ongoing turmoil at Mr Binman has caused enormous distress not only to the 331 employees and their families, but also to the customers across Munster who use the waste collection service.   As soon as the receivers were appointed by the High Court last Thursday, my colleague Niall Collins and I sought an urgent meeting with them to discuss the future of the firm and the jobs it supports.  The receivers have assured us today that there will be no job losses at Mr Binman and that the customers have nothing to worry about when it comes to the continuity of service.”

Co Limerick TD Niall Collins commented, “The news we have received today will be of huge relief to staff and customers at Mr Binman.  The receivers have told us at our meeting today that Mr Binman remains a viable business and there have been several expressions of interest from third parties wishing to take over the company.  They have said they are hopeful this process can be completed before the end of the year. I hope this can bring an end to what has been a very stressful and uncertain period for the hundreds of workers at Mr Binman and their families.”
